Tips to increase hemoglobin
Hello friends,
How did your weekend go, mine was a super busy one with working saturday 🙁
Anyhow, yesterday I was an advertisement on TV where certain brand was providing free hemoglobin check for women as they claimed more than 50% of female population in India suffer with Anemia… Scary isn’t it..it made me thinking and I thought I would share with you some tips on how to boost up your hemoglobin in this post.
My father being a doctor was always particular about certain things we must eat, one of them was coriander leaves. I remember my mother always used to sprinkle fresh coriander leaves over the dishes she served us, inspite of my brother making hundred faces while eating it, kids you know…I always used to think coriander leaves are just for garnishing and don’t have any significant nutritional benefits as such. I was soooo wrong, they are a rich source of iron and therefore a simple habit of eating it daily helps to have good hemoglobin levels and cures Anemia.
See how simple things/habit can play a major role in our lives 🙂
Besides coriander leaves here are few other home remedies you can try to cure Anemia and boost up your hemoglobin level-
1-De-worming
De worming or worming is the process of getting the rid of intestinal worms through medicine, though this process kills the adult worms it does not kill their eggs, therefore this process needs to be repeatedly periodically. It is required because certain worms/parasites in our stomach affect our body’s capability to absorb nutrition’s leading to anemia and mal-nutrition. Do consult your doctors for suitable de-worming medicine.
2-Spinach soups
Spinach/palak is also a rich source of iron. Make sure you eat properly cooked spinach only, cook it with pulses or make a soup to please your taste buds.
3-Jaggery as sweetener
Eat jaggery, I know people with sweet tooth gonna love this 🙂
Try replacing your normal sugar with jaggery whenever possible since it is a rich source of iron and increases the hemoglobin level in the blood and very good for anemic people.
4-Pomegranate Juice
Pomegranate is a rich source of natural iron which boosts blood hemoglobin levels. So drink pomegranate juice regularly to keep yourself healthy. Now a days the whole world is going crazy over anti-oxidants and this fruit is a big source of that so it has an added benefit too.
What do you do to maintain your blood hemoglobin level???

Nice post Swati..useful for thalassemia minors like me 🙂 Any fruit that turns brown after we cut it open is rich in iron( thats what they teach in my medical college) such as apple! A lot of indian women are anaemic and this is surely useful for them 🙂
