Reusing Cardboard packaging to make Storage boxes

Last couple of months have been a blast for online shopper’s in my apartment with so many exciting deals running on E-commerce sites, as I can see lot of Packaging waste dumped in parking lot. All sorts of products were ordered like washing machine, television, kids toys as there are many big big cartons lying around. I am sure the apartment association has not been able to find any takers(even the dry waste garbage collectors) thats why the dump. It is really a sorry site to see all this dump, some of the cardboard pieces are so big and looked all new that they could easily be reused multiple times.

One day while coming from the parking lot we just couldn’t control ourselves and picked couple of the cardboard cartons and got them home. We were not sure what we wanted to do with them, but a brief idea to reuse cardboard boxes for some storage. It was lying in our balcony for some weeks when Abhishek decided to use them to make a “Pull out drawer” for organising his wardrobe. Why Pull out drawers, now that’s another story…long back we planned to install these kind of ‘Pull out drawers’ in steel for wardrobes for managing clothes better, ease of finding clothes stored at the back of shelf. But then they were very costly and also our carpenter who promised to fix them ran away in between so we totally dropped the idea. So now again we had a good reason to carry on this project again. 

Here’s is Abhishek at work with his tools making these ‘Pull out drawers’. I saw them after he fixed them in the wardrobe and was so impressed I made him promise to make one for my wardrobe too, because I am so lazy in cleaning my wardrobe frequently these ‘Pull out drawers’ will be definitely a time saver for me. Maybe I will just paint them in some pretty colors 🙂
