Well this post might get you little surprised as I have never talked about any recipes here. But I had to tell you about this because I tried out something new. So the story goes like this, today is my dear hubby’s birthday and he just loves Milk Cakes, it is an Indian sweet made with milk and sugar. But I think birthday cakes are so incomplete without any form of icing, so now what???
I thought of giving the traditional sweet a twist, prepared the milk cake and did an icing with chocolate to turn it into a perfect Birthday cake. Easy isn’t it 🙂
Here’s the detailed recipe for you:
Ingredients for cake:
6 cups of full cream milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon crushed cardamom
Approx 3 tablespoon lemon juice
Preparation of cake:
1-In a large, heavy and wide saucepan boil the milk for around 3-4 minutes.
2-Then add lemon juice to it slowly until it begins to curdle. Try using minimum amount of lemon juice to just start the curdling process and prevent the whey (milky water) from completely separating immediately.
3-Now let it boil for 5 minutes and then remove 1 ½ cups of water from it.
4-Keep on cooking it until the water evaporates for approx 15-20 minutes.
5-Now add sugar and cardamom and lower the heat and cook it for 8-10 minutes more until it turns golden brown in color.
6-Now transfer it to a greased plate(with butter or ghee) and make it into your desired shape.
Chocolate coating:
1-After you transfer the milk cake to a plate cut small layers of chocolate from any chocolate bar you like.
spread it over the milk cake while it is still hot and the chocolate will melt immediately forming a coating over the cake.
2-Make the chocolate layer as thick as you want by putting as much chocolate as you desire.
3-Decorate it further as per your liking.
